Tattoo Care Tips & Advice : Sun Exposure Tips for New Tattoos

Hi, my name is Lefty at 1603 Tattoos in Tampa,
Florida. On behalf of Expert Village, this is tattoo care. Once receiving your tattoo which you do not
want to do is you do not want to go in the sun immediately. You want to keep it out of
the sun as much as possible you don’t want to over expose it. The more exposure you get
to your tattoo from the sun, you are going to either sunburn yourself and damage the
tattoo. Because you are going to be healing hard and giving it more sun it’s going to
create yourself a sunburn which it’s going to cause it to heal a lot harder. At the same
time you’re going to be damaging your tattoo as far as lightening any color that you might
have and the last thing you want to do is irritate the tattoo. Like I mentioned it will
cause it to heal a lot more harder. So you can go out but like I said you do not want
to over expose when your out. When you are out do not cover it to try to protect it from
the sun because again you don’t want to suffocate your tattoo but it’s alright to go about and
do your thing. Just don’t over expose yourself.

  1. Good simple advice, I was worried about mine as people were like "don't go in the sun for 8-10 weeks…"

  2. Ok thanks for the advice but what do I do? I work in a rental car place and I'm standing outside for all my 8 hrs of work even if it rains. Do I use a long sleeve or do I let the tattoo get sun?
