KJELL: More and more people are getting into
this business. You need to be sharp, you need to be good
and very well organised. The idea was to create a bike shop and a tattoo
parlour at the same place to have wide things to offer customers and something different. My typical day is to get down to the studio
and start by cleaning everything so everything is ready the first customers arriving in the
morning. It includes creating the pictures, the images,
the drawings for each customer who is on the waiting list. After that, it would be a few hours of tattooing
depending on how much my customers can take and how much I can take. Art is something which we need to create a
nice environment for us and art is supposed to be carried on. So I am not a lonely artist standing painting
a canvas inside a studio, I’ve got a relation with each customer. Working as an employee at a studio, you will
have the same obligation as all employees have. If you are running your own small parlour,
which I think most of the people inside this business are, you have the freedom of your
time schedule. You can decide when you are working and not
working. Obviously, if you need to make a living, you
are working a lot. Being able here and sit and see the tattoo,
I can see my own work. I have accomplished something during the day and something which
will stay there. This customer will carry that tattoo for the
rest of their life. That’s the biggest satisfaction of doing this
and seeing the appreciation from the customer about what I’ve done.
