My name is Holly Dosdale I’m a tattoo artist I’ve been tattooing just over six years now I did art at Uni and wanted to do something creative I started asking around at studios apprenticing going from there really practicing on friends I’ve always painted and drawn and doing things like that. I still do a few odd commissions and stuff like that We sell a few bits of artwork in here for local artists as well. The most difficult thing I’ve probably had to do is a portrait of a loved one or something like that I had someone who had lost someone and it was a memorial piece so you always want to do things justice so I think you know, it’s more difficult the person has to be really happy with it on their skin they are wearing it forever it’s like you’ve got to have a good bond with the person you’ve got to discuss things and go from there. I’ve had the shop for about five years now I remember it being a bit scary first going in to business going on your own I’ve worked at other places but I just wanted to do something a bit different I wanted it to be a bit more homely a bit more comfortable for people to come in. I like to the think we’ve got a place where people you know can come and discuss things and not have to feel intimidated. I’ve got two other artists working here there’s Lee Humphries he does a lot of small detailed work a lot of black and grey stuff a lot of real intricate sort of things Darren Batty, he does a lot of black and grey he does a lot of sleeve work a lot of like, he does portraits really well that sort of thing so we cover quite a few different styles. This year I’ve loved that there’s been a lot more gigs going on a lot more things in the city It’s amazing that you know these sorts of bands are coming to Hull and I think it will be great in the future that more artists, whether it be visual or music there’s a lot more people that are knowing Hull is here that there’s people that want to be involved in it as well.
