We needed money. Like 25 million dollars of investment. Why? We have this tool that people love using and it helps them work as a team, and we wanted to get it out to the world. Someone on the board said, “Go film your clients.” My boss chose the best people for the job. They were busy so we went instead. This was my first time with the company credit card, so New York seemed like a responsible place to start. [Music] East of Normal is a creative agency. If you want sh*t to get done you put in… Sorry, I said sh*t. Our first video was a great success. So, we decided we should treat ourselves by going somewhere we’d never been before. Somewhere truly American [Music] Remember when you were a kid and you put that fake tattoo of Power Rangers on your arm? Well, these guys made them. They make over two billion tattoos a year. [Music] 14 flights in 16 days is too many flights. So, you have to start inventing ways to spend time at the airport. Our hotel tonight has one king-sized bed and one shitty sofa bed. I’m betting the book’s coming back. He’s bet the book has not come back. Guess I’m sleeping on the couch tonight. The videos have been going great so far but we’re talking about a lot of money. We needed something spectacular to wow the investors with. Luckily, we have a customer that builds airplanes. [Music] Composite Approach makes airplanes and drones, marine drones and air drones. We build flying cars. I know you’re not supposed to have favourites and all customers are equal but this place is so much more equal than others. Quick update. It’s 4:00 a.m. here in the mountains in Oregon. It’s snowing like mad. Our flight has been cancelled to Portland but we have a shoot in six hours. We’re trying to work out the best way to get there. Mountain passes are closed, the flights are cancelled, it seems like skiing there is the only option. But we found a bus and I checked them up on Google and they only crashed twice last winter. Good stats. [Music] It took us seven hours to get from Bend to Portland. Now we’re on the way to Rendered t-shirts. Going to be cool. So, we just needed one quick stop before the shoot and we’re good to go. We print water based screen prints onto very nice t-shirts. Our prints are softer than the normal company and they look really good on a shirt. So that was the story of how two unlikely heroes saved a start-up by making videos. Sixteen days, nine videos, countless donuts, three missed flights, one cancelled flight later and we got the cash. All 25 million of it. Some people back at the office think that we got the investment because we have a great product with hundreds of thousands of happy users. I think it’s because of the videos. I’ll let you decide for yourself.
